UK,12mo HB minus dw/dj,author SIGNED,1st edn.VG+.No owner inscrptn but author's dark ink dedication,inscrptn and date to half-title page: 'To A.S Hardy Esq (oblique underscore) With cordial regards from the Author (oblique underscore) 12/8/21' (another oblique underscore),and minus issued dw/dj.Bright,fairly clean - given book's age - red paper-covered boards with black lettering; with negligible shelf-wear or creasing to edges and corners,some inevitable but minimal rubbing - but no major nicks or tears present.Both front+rear hinges cracked but still attached and in situ with endpapers slightly aged/toned.Top+fore-edges aged/ toned; contents tight,clean,solid and sound - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners,appears unread - apart from my own collation.UK,12mo HB minus dw/dj, author SIGNED,1st edn,viipp+10-254pp [paginated] includes a contents list/ table,XX (20) chapters,plus [unpaginated] author's SIGNED,dedicated inscrptn+ contemporaneously dated half-title page and a title page. Very scarce due to fragility of paper and card used and publisher's demise - into Voluntary Liquidation - see below.Scarce also with the author's warm inscrptn and signature,unique with these attributes. Sport of kings and sporting novel/fiction in the Nat Gould 'ripping yarns' style. Short-lived British publisher of books who started business in 1920.They also published Toby's Family Playing Cards,a spin-off from the illustrated children’s magazine 'Toby' which was published during the 1920s,based on Punch & Judy. George Heath Robinson was the youngest brother of the famous William Heath Robinson who was noted for his illustrations of absurdly intricate machinery to do simple uncomplicated tasks.In Britain today,if something looks like a shambles,it could still be described as "a bit Heath Robinson" G. HEATH ROBINSON & J. BIRCH Limited.On 3rd June,1925 the company filed for and went into Voluntary Liquidation - notice posted in THE LONDON GAZETTE,5th JUNE, 1925.
